Medical Clinics for Rural Communities

In rural Sylhet division, Bangladesh, the nearest hospital is between three and five hours away by road for most communities. The three district clinics our partners operate are the only realistic point of care for over 18,000 people, and they are stretched.

This appeal funds twelve months of medical supplies (antibiotics, antiseptics, basic surgical kit, antenatal supplies), the salary of one resident midwife at each clinic, and a quarterly visiting doctor rotation. The midwife placement is the single biggest determinant of maternal mortality in the region — the partner team has data going back to 2017 to prove it.

£250 stocks one clinic with medical supplies for a week. £3,500 funds a midwifery placement for a quarter. £18,000 covers all three clinics, all twelve months.
